1981 – Diyarbakir. Siyap and his two brothers, who are Kurds, are studying in an obligatory boarding school where the repercussions of the recent military coup are still very strongly felt. For the children, the school is nothing more than a barracks with the strictest of disciplines. Siyap is on his way to Diyarbakir to see his father in prison, when a fire starts there in the night. The boy rushes to get to the prison but before he reaches it, he is arrested and tortured by the military. Siyap measures his difficult situation, and decides to act accordingly, by only trusting his own sense of justice going forward, rather than that of a gangrened and authoritarian State.
